Re: The joke that is West Ham's scouting
Have a family friend who works as a statistician.

Now works for RB Leipzig in Germany.

They have revolutionized scouting. Have a huge department.

They start looking at players based on stats alone. If a player is regularly showing good stats then they send a scout to the game.

For a club founded 10 years ago and now challenging for the Bundesliga they must be doing something right.

We are a million miles away from that kind of network.

Re: The joke that is West Ham's scouting
Just watched this.

Didn’t Gold defend the club not investing in top notch training facilities a few years ago on the grounds that fans would rather the 10 million be spent on a player instead? Perhaps someone like Hugill!

They just don’t have a clue how to operate in top notch professional competition. Everything is done on the cheap. Clubs that should be below us are far outspending us in scouting and analytics. It is forgivable to be below Leicester, Southampton and Wolves in the table, but to be so far below them in spending on infrastructure is not.

They are incompetent and greedy, a potent combination.

The problem with Gold Sullivan and Brady is that they do have a shortlist but are hoping that some retire over the summer and regenerate as unknown young players with the same stats.

Strolling along.. minding my own business..
Well there goes a winger in a hat....
Hes got me going up and down..
Hes got me going up and down.

Walking along the touchline.. Wanking on the touchline..
Well I got the notion boy.. you got some suntan lotion in that bottle of yours..
Spread it all over my pubic skin baby.. That feels really good.
Lap me up babbee

Regards

Re: The joke that is West Ham's scouting
We signed 2 freebie keepers in the summer and have just signed another one who really wasn't that great last time around. That's the only signing we've made over half way through the window and there's still the same gapping holes in the team & squad that have been bleedin obvious for 2 years.

Sums it up.

Relax lads, the database of transfer targets are all typed up on an Amstrad CPC 464 and kept on tape and stored in an ever so slightly mouldy cardboard box in Barry Silkmans shed.

The people that run our club are the sort who drink the cheapest cognac but put it in the most expensive glass...

I'm just watching it. First thoughts were typical penny pinching board. But on second thoughts maybe it's worse actually paying scouts to advise buying the dross that we have ended up with!!!

Re: The joke that is West Ham's scouting
I am guessing that they think it is clever in a Moneyball way except we don't do the stats crunching thing that goes along with it.

Jordan Hugill was quite a funny joke.
